Description
Garuda is described as the king of the birds, an eagle, and a human-like figure. He is shown either as a giant bird with partially open wings or a man with wings and some ornithic features Garuda is generally portrayed as a protector with the power to swiftly travel anywhere, ever vigilant and an enemy of every serpent as serpents are considered as cruel forces. Worshiping Garuda is usually to get protection from snake bites which is a very unfortunate and most dangerous thing that can happen to human life. As part of the Hindu worship practices, Garuda worships and Garuda dances called “Garudan thookkam “are widely conducted in south Indian temples to get protected from snake bites. Usually, the villages carry the Garuda vahana like this during the temple possessions ceremony which is the main ritual function of the festivals.
This has beautiful original temple painting with amazing stone and mirror beets decorative works which are still in good condition. The whole figure has great quality and there is no damage to the idol.
